As many of you alreayd know, I ordered a Fiesta ST a while back. By a while back, I mean the middle of January........ IT HAS NOT COME IN YET!!!!!!!!
Current estimates place the car in the Kansas City railyard with an ETA of the week of the 21st. I've had enough. Unless Ford intends to honor the corportate coupons they sent out that expired because my car has been delayed MULTIPLE TIMES since ordering, I'm seriously tempted to back out and get a 9-3 turbo X as posted !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! . 33k miles for 20k$ and it is the wagon?!?!?!?! SOLD! But still......for about 23k after discounts I can get the Fiesta ST. So the question boils down to
Brand new Fiesta ST?
Or a lightly used Saab 9-3 Turbo X sportcombi?

Personally I'd go 9-3.

You need to get the Fiesta, and drop an older Cadillac motor into it. That way you could have the "FiST of the Northstar!"

Dude that TurboX is like a once in a lifetime chance, I'm going to get a Fiesta ST also, but if this car was anywhere near me, I'd say "fuck the Fiesta, I'm getting the coolest Saab ever!"

How smart do you want to be?
That Aero will hold some value, that ST will likely tank... Even though I think the ST is a great car and Ford has turned around in most ways... Their image is bulk selling and shoody reliability when compared to say Honda. If you get a 5 year loan, I would e amazed that ST is still worth $10k when its paid off. Maybe the next gen ST will do better if Ford keeps selling this new image though.

Both cars I intend to drive into the ground. Autocrosses will be a part of life.

Don't buy the Saab, but only because I want it.
Seeing as I would have to sell a car first in order to buy said Saab, at which point it will probably already be sold so it doesn't matter what I want, THE SAAB. BUY THE SAAB AND LET ME DRIVE IT.
*whispers*
Please.

Then the ST, better after market parts availability, more mods, bigger community (and growing).

On the one hand, the Fiesta will be new, under warranty, be easier to service, will get better mileage, and is a great little car to hoon.
On the other hand, the Turbo X Wagon is an amazing rarity amongst the Saab community. More so than most other Saabs ever built. It's larger, more powerful, has pretty low miles, and has a great price. That's a car you would need to hold onto and baby till the day you die. It's really a collectors car.
But I have bias to a Saab like this. Both are great cars, but when a friend sent me the listing about this car, I seriously thought about how I could get rid of the C320 I don't use and which airline I should jump on.
Probably not going to be something that you'll have a lot of time to think about. There are a whole lot of people talking about this car. 33,000 miles and at $20k. That's pretty amazing.

I doubt the Fiesta values will tank, Ford isn't selling very many of them.

The Saab is the business and dead sexy, but it'll be harder to find parts, more expensive to maintain, and more expensive to drive. I say find out if the dealer will honor the coupons. If they do, keep the ST. If they don't head on over to turbo Saab land.

I think that's going to be my tippin point - if the buyer contacts me and says I can place a deposit, and the dealer doesn't honor the coupons, that's it. I have a feeling the dealer wants to honor them and send the bill to Ford as I am not the only buyer getting screwed out of this very late shipment. Check out Fox Ford in grand rapids, MI. They only have 10 fiestas in stock and are the primary dealership for most of the grand rapids area..........NOT GOOD! They are waiting on another 10+ fiestas and apparently 4 or 5 customer special orders including 3 STs.

You'd think a dealership in Michigan wouldn't have such a long wait.

This is actually tough. I would go with the Saab but I think the Fiesta is an equally good choice. I'd rather go with the bigger, more comfy vehicle if I have to succumb to FWD (or FWD based AWD). But Fiesta is lighter on its feet, cheaper to run, probably more fun to drive too. But the Saab would be an awesome highway blaster.

The plant is in Mexico. And I was told before ordering that the lead time on an ST is "the same as a normal fiesta" but I was told *after* ordering that it *might* be longer and apparently it is. So yeah, kinda pissed.

They didn't sell many of the Focus SVT either, and those prices certainly didn't stay up.

But how Jalop is that turbo wagon?!?!?! 6-speed manual wagon with an AWD turbo V6 and a swedish badge?!?!?! If it was brown, I would win all the Jalops.

I am tempted. I save about 4k over the fiesta ST I can set aside for parts and service. So I am seriously considering it to have the rarer, more desireable car.

Ah. There we go. If it helps my brother had to wait 2-3 months for his Focus (SE), and that one is built in Michigan. Now that he has it though he absolutely loves it.

I don't doubt that I would love either, but as it sits I am sick and tired of being dragged around for literally a month and a half and now if I lose my rebates and extra cash offers that were keeping me upbeat about this car? No, I'm sorry, but No. That is unacceptable and I will take my money elsewhere becaue of a free market economy. Ford wants to act like an ass? I can do the same, cancel my order (which they did NOT make me leave a deposit on!) and buy something else and flip the bird at every ford plant I pass from now on.

Fair enough. Admittedly my brother knew from day 1 how long the wait would be. His was a custom order (manual, sunroof, etc), so they told him it would be 2-3 months. He also put a deposit down early and locked himself into the discounts and rebates.

Based on a European mainstreamer chassis no less. Oh yes, the Saab def wins all the Jalops, if that's a priority
